BIW or Boston Insulated Wire was located in Burlington. This facility basically was our beginnings. The Engineering Manager at that time was frustrated with the service people who were “repairing” his machines. One day he called up Ceeco Machinery and asked if there was anyone available that knew his drum twister. At the time there was at least 1 service visit per week and no end in sight the machine was a liability. At that time we were employee’s of Ceeco machinery and we fixed the machine (complete tear down and rebuild on site, < 1 week down time. After that tear down the Engineering manager realized he had someone who did not give him a line and started asking us if we would be interested in rebuilding his stranders. At the time they were producing the elevator cables for the world trade center. Over the next 6 months we rebuilt several machines and this is how we got started……
